Mittauer & Associates, Inc. was founded in 1989 to provide high-quality and cost-effective water, wastewater, civil, and structural engineering to municipalities, utilities and counties throughout the State of Florida. Since it's inception, the firm's reputation for top-notch work coupled with attentive customer service has earned us assignments on thousands of projects. A significant portion of our prior project experience is with grant-funded projects. We are proud to state that Mittauer & Associates, Inc. has more grant-funded project experience than any other engineering firm in the State of Florida.

Mittauer & Associates, Inc. is a unique company in that we provide all design related services under one roof. Our professional team manages all of our projects with an emphasis on communication, high quality design, cost efficiency, scheduling, stakeholder involvement, and quality assurance/quality control measures, so that our projects are completed on time and within budget.

Joseph A. Mittauer, P.E.

FOUNDER & PRESIDENT

Mr. Joseph A. Mittauer, P.E. is a uniquely qualified engineer. He brings a wealth of knowledge as an engineer with 48 years of distinguished experience. His career spans across water and wastewater, structural, environmental, and material handling design. He possesses comprehensive knowledge in securing grants and low-interest loan funding, and excels in navigating permitting processes, and overseeing construction administration.

As President and Principal-In-Charge of Mittauer & Associates, Inc., Mr. Mittauer is actively involved in all of the firm's projects. Prior to opening Mittauer & Associates, Inc., Mr. Mittauer was Lead Design Engineer for the Jacksonville Buckman Street Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion (35 MGD to 52.5 MGD) and the expansion and improvements to the Sarasota Wastewater Treatment Plant (9 MGD to 13 MGD)

Timothy P. Norman, P.E.

VICE PRESIDENT

Mr. Norman has more than 40 years of experience in the design, permitting, and construction of water and wastewater facilities throughout the State of Florida. Many of these projects were funded through State and Federal grants/loans. Since joining Mittauer & Associates, Inc. in January 1994, he has played a key role in the design and permitting of many water/wastewater plant projects.

Mr. Norman has extensive experience in permitting (DEP, EPA, WMD, DOT, DNR, and COE), cost estimation, and preparation of O&M manuals.

Jason R. Shepler, P.E.

VICE PRESIDENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES

Mr. Shepler has 27 years of experience in funding assistance, project design, permitting, management, and development in the environmental engineering areas of : domestic wastewater, potable water, reclaimed water, stormwater systems, and permitting for each respective field as well as land and site development. His experience has included complete water, wastewater, and reclaimed water treatment facilities as well as lift station rehabilitation projects for small and large utilities.

Mr. Shepler's management and design capabilities include oversight and completion on designs for wastewater collection, transmission, and treatment facilities; reclaimed water delivery systems; utility corridors; potable water distribution and treatment systems; stormwater collection and treatment facilities; and site development projects.

Gregory D. Lang

VICE PRESIDENT OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

As Vice President of Community Development, Mr. Lang specializes in strategically assembling the most advantageous grant/loan project funding sources to support projects. In the ever-evolving landscape of environmental project funding in Florida coupled with increasing regulatory challenges that communities and utilities face, Mr. Lang's dedicated efforts assist clients in achieving environmental, economic, quality of life and public health goals.

Mr. Lang has diligently assembled hundreds of millions in grant funding that have funded hundreds of projects. 

Drawing from his prior experience as a Community Development Director, an SBA Disaster Analyst for the Department of Homeland Security, Mr. Lang's expertise in developing funding strategies is informed by a wealth of knowledge. These strategies consistently lead to impactful and successful projects.
